(NEW YORK)(January 14, 2009) Obama adversary and sexual discrimination opponent pioneer Andy Martin will hold a New York City news conference today to demand that Barack Obama drop Tim Geithner's nomination for Treasury Secretary based on the "Zoe Baird precedent."
"Forty years ago, in 1969, I was a party to the landmark sexual discrimination case that established the legal principle of equal opportunity for women in the workplace," Martin will say (see below for details). "Apparently, my work is not done. Barack Obama has once again bared his 'woman problem' by persisting with the nomination of Tim Geithner after disclosure of Geithner's extensive tax problems that involve, inter alia, a home employee. Equal opportunity means men don't get a 'pass' for conduct that disqualifies a woman. No double standard.
"Zoe Baird was hounded out of Washington for similar tax problems. Is there a double standard for men and women in Obama's Washington? I thought women would be treated as equals? And men too? We need to abolish the 'double standard,' now. Obama should not be allowed to ignore Baird's precedent. How can the federal government approve Geithner when Bernie Kerik, a more recent offender, is being excoriated for the same conduct?
"The mainstream media are engaged in what will no doubt be the first of many blatant whitewashes to cover-up the corruption, cronyism and incompetence of the Obama crowd. The news coverage is all slanted pro-Geithner, to intimidate potential opponents.
"What kind of vetting did Obama do if the septuagenarians of the Senate Finance Committee did a better job of investigating Obama? What other secrets has Obama missed? What about Geithner's role as a valet for Goldman Greed & Co?
"Why is every Republican senator not taking to the floor of the senate to fight? The Republican Party in Washington is a feeble gerontocracy, led by men such as Orin Hatch and Charlie Grassley who have been there too long and lost their fight for a fight.
"Obama is about to unleash the greatest political crime wave in the White House in the past fifty years. By the time Obama is removed from office he will make George Bush look like a choir boy. People will be crying for the return of 'Honest Dick' Cheney.
"It is clear that Democrats have contempt for women, who form the solid base of the Democratic Party. Democrats profess equality in public and practice the double standard in private. Every woman who voted for Obama should be on the phone to her senator or representative, demanding to know why Geithner is being allowed to proceed. Of course, he may be competent. But there are a lot of competent people out there who have paid their taxes on time.
"Geithner is not the only person who could fill the Treasury position. But he has one special qualification. He is a crony and front man for the Capo di Tutti Capi of the Obama operation, and before then the Clinton Gang: Robert Rubin, the man who destroyed America's economy and sent our citizens to the poorhouse, while he fiddled away and robbed Citibank shareholders of $120 million in profits. Rubin is backing this crook, Geithner, and that would be reason enough for any honest and honorable senator to vote against Geithner.
"Geithner should leave Washington and go to work at Goldman Greed & Co, because even if he is confirmed he is not going to be anything more than a front man for that corrupt operation (Goldman Sachs).
"Doesn’t anyone in Washington have the guts to stand up to Rubin's Raiders? Are we all reduced to being serfs, while Obama lives la vida loca in luxury hotels and acts as the front man for Rubin, Bernie Madoff and the other secret swindlers on Wall Street who financed his campaign and have now reduced working families to penury?
"How does the Republican Party 'come back' when its leaders won’t 'stand up' to Rubin and Geithner?
"Today I issue a call to arms to every American, Democrat Republican and Independent: stop the crooks before they stop us; stop Geithner and reject Rubin's stooge," Martin will state. "Can we send some of these toothless Republicans a shot of Geritol?

Dear Senator Baucus:
I am leading the nationwide opposition to the Tim Geithner nomination.
I would like to be called as a witness in opposition when you convene a hearing on his nomination. In particular and in addition to the "Zoe Baird issues," I want to implore the Committee members to face the reality of blatant conflicts between "Robber" Robert Rubin, Goldman Sachs and the chaos these persons created in our national economy. Tim Geithner was their valet and messenger boy.
In my opinion, anyone who has ever had any contact with Goldman Greed & Co., or ever spoken to "Robber" Rubin, should be disqualified from any role at the Treasury. My next column, "Good Riddance to Bad Rubin" will come later today.
