Countdown to Honolulu - Three Days
Andy Martin says The Associated Press is publishing erroneous claims about President Obama
Three days before he lands in Honolulu, Obama author, researcher and motion picture producer Andy Martin has asked the CEO of The Associated Press to open an investigation into whether the AP is disseminating erroneous and misleading information about Barack Obama’s personal history. The letter to Tom Curley is self-explanatory. “Andy’s Armada,” led by “King of the Birthers” Martin, lands in Honolulu on April 27th to continue investigating Obama’s “roots” in the Aloha State

Re: Accurate reporting on Barack Obama
Dear Mr. Curley:
I would like to bring to your attention instances of apparently inaccurate reporting by the Associated Press, and ask that you (i) open an investigation into past errors as well as (ii) adopting internal guidelines as to future reporting.
You are aware, of course, of the controversy concerning Barack Obama’s missing 1961 birth certificate. Mainstream media have tried to lump everyone who challenges Obama’s place of birth into the status of “birther.” That is an inaccurate characterization.
I am not a birther, but I do accuse Obama of concealing his original, 1961 typewritten Hawai’i birth certificate. The laser-printed facsimile he released in 2008 is by no means a “copy” of the 1961 document. The typewritten original form contained considerably more detailed information and would/could answer questions that remain about Obama’s birth.
Unlike most birthers, I accept that Obama was born in Hawai’i, but I cannot explain what information he is trying to hide by refusing to release the original certificate.
On April 23rd, the New York Post carried an AP story that said “Hawaii officials have repeatedly confirmed Obama is a natural-born American citizen.” This is a false statement of fact.
Hawai’i officials have confirmed that they have an original 1961 birth document, as well as a database entry from which they issued the 2008 laser-printed document, confirming Obama’s birth in Hawai’i. They have done nothing more.
The term “natural-born citizen” is a constitutional term of art that appears in the United States Constitution. The term applies only to the office of president. The term “natural-born” had a definite and distinct meaning at the time the Constitution was adopted. Hawai’i would have no way of knowing if Obama was “natural-born” because “natural born” encompasses more than mere physical presence in the United States or information entered in a public health record.
I was originally skeptical of the “natural-born” issue but I have become increasingly convinced that Obama is not “natural born” and that he is ineligible to hold the office of president. At a minimum, “natural born” requires that in addition to U. S. birth, both parents of a president must be American citizens. Obama’s putative father (as opposed to the person I believe was actually Obama’s biological father, Frank Marshall Davis) was admittedly not a U. S. Citizen. He was a Kenyan.
Despite my growing belief Obama is not natural born and is thus ineligible to hold the office of president, I have also expressed skepticism that he can be removed except through the electoral process.
I turn now to the issue of Obama’s “Kenyan birth.” I do not believe that Obama was born in Kenya, but tens of millions of Americans do. One of the grounds for that belief is a 2004 AP story datelined Kenya that said Obama was Kenyan-born. Obama was a candidate for U. S. Senator at the time and the “natural-born” test obviously did not apply.
The “Kenyan-born” AP story from Kenya may have slipped past AP editors in New York in 2004, but it is time for the AP to issue a correction and formally retract the 2004 story if you have not done so already. If you fail to retract the Kenyan-birth story, the AP gives continuing credence to those who believe Obama is a Kenyan citizen and ineligible to serve as president. I am sure you do not want to do that.
I will be arriving in Honolulu on April 27th to continue my research into Barack Obama’s “roots” in Hawai’i (please see my blogs for details, www.ContrarianCommentary.blogspot.com, www.ContrarianCommentary.wordpress.com, www.ContrarianCommentary.typepad.com, www.ContrarianCommentary.com). Many questions remain unanswered and many facts have never been verified.
Although I frequently criticize Barack Obama politically, I have always remained scrupulously honest and impartial in my efforts to find the facts and to search for the truth about his personal history, including missing college and law school records. There is much that we still do not know about the mysterious Mr. Obama.
Mainstream media have tried to “kill” the birther explosion. They did it in 2008, and failed. They did it in 2009, and failed again. The birther issue is burning with even greater intensity in 2010. Polls confirm that fact. I could go further, but will stop here for security reasons.
On the other hand, since Obama’s media mujahideen have called me the “King of the Birthers,” I have tongue-in-cheek chosen to accept the title since it is as close to royalty as I am likely to get in this life.
AP has the duty to be scrupulously accurate in its reports about President Obama. I hope you agree, and will look into the foregoing criticisms I have sent you.
Please let me have your thoughts.
With best wishes,
ANDY MARTIN
