The Times column seeks to portray Obama's Muslim heritage as a "rumor." The column goes on to make the false assertion that Martin's 2004 release "offered no proof."
Chicago-based Martin responded on Monday, branding the Times column part of Obama's religious disinformation operation.
"A column in Sunday's New York Times Magazine credits 'colorful Web columnist' Andy Martin with disclosing Senator Barack Obama's Muslim family 'roots'," Martin stated. "That claim is correct. The balance of the column, however, is more Obama disinformation."
"First, the 2004 column is there to be read by anyone. I am adding the original release to these remarks. The Times claim that I offered 'no proof' is rebutted by the release itself. I did what no one else had done before. I developed international research both on Obama's family name (Barack, as a Muslim-derived name), and on the fact that both Obama's father and grandfather's were Muslims. No one has ever impeached my research. To claim otherwise is nothing more than Barack Obama's disinformation.
"To label facts as 'rumors,' and to claim that evidence of a family religious history is 'without proof' is nothing more than left-wing disinformation.
"Interestingly, way back in 2004 I offered and explanation of why Obama was hiding his religious history. He was afraid of a backlash from Jewish voters. That backlash materialized in 2007, validating by my predictive analysis in 2004. Now that Obama's mentor and pastor Jeremiah Wright's anti-Semitic statements have been publicized, we know what and why Obama was trying to conceal.
"I also suggested in 2004 Obama's book was a fraud. Obama later disclosed that his 'autobiography' had imaginary characters as major aspects of his 'autobiographical' narrative. To paraphrase Geraldine Ferraro, could a white guy get away with such chicanery? No way.
"Obama has been using religion and family as a scam for many years. He used Jeremiah Wright to create the illusion of Obama's Black Nationalist credentials, by attending Wright's church for decades. Obama tries to send a subliminal message of Black Nationalism to African-Americans through his association with Wright, and then issues cloying denials to the white media.
"He has turned the Muslim spigot off and on as it suits his interests. His 'granny" has been quoted in the NY Times as saying she is a devout Muslim, and then quoted by AP as saying she is a Christian. Well, what is she? What gives?
"While my subsequent columns since 2004 have clearly accepted Obama's avowals that at some point he began to profess Christianity, his relentless efforts to conceal his Muslim heritage have continued, right up to using a writer in the Times Magazine yesterday to brand his religious 'roots' as a 'rumor.' Obama started life as a Muslim. The exact date when he professed Christianity has never been disclosed. Obama continues to be deliberately vague.
"Obama has constantly tried to undermine me. He has used his allies at The Nation to smear me as the clandestine leader of a 'right-wing smear machine.' I am nothing of the sort. Now he has used the NY Times to resuscitate the false claim that my research was based on 'rumors.' Nonsense.
"Part of the problem in writing about Obama's religious beliefs, as well as his links to Chicago wheeler-dealer Tony Rezko, is that Obama constantly tries to rope-a-dope the truth. He has been dribbling out 'facts' on his religion and on Rezko for years. Each disclosure is labeled as 'final' and 'complete,' when they are nothing of the sort. How many 'final' disclosures about Rezko have we seen from Obama? I lost count. Ditto for religious explanations. Last week he was at it again, with another 'full disclosure' about Rezko. The interview left Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass still skeptical.
"I am very proud to have developed the original research, here at home and abroad in Kenya, on Obama's religious history. Likewise, I exposed Obama's Rezko connection fifteen months ago.
"But here are some questions for Mr. Obama, today:
"First, when was he baptized by Reverend Wright?
"Second, is there a baptismal certificate to document his alleged date of baptism? Most denominations issue certificates.
"Third, why won't Mr. Obama come clean and tell the truth about both his religious roots and relationship to Rezko? Why does he keep dribbling out the truth under duress?
Fourth, is his 'Granny," Sarah Obama, a Muslim or a Christian? Who is right? The AP or the New York Times? There are conflicting public statements.
"I have a great deal of respect for the Muslim religion. I believe in inclusiveness, not demonization. But when someone tries to hide his roots, rather than discover them, I am lead to question his candor and sincerity. That is why I have focused attention on Obama's Muslim heritage. Obama thought he could get 'protection' from his friends in the media and the truth would wither. I'm here to tell Barry O that the truth and the power of the truth are growing exponentially.
"Fifth, when is he going to make a full and complete disclosure of all of the imaginary characters he produced as real people in Dreams From My Father? As I stated in 2004, and again in 2007, the use of imaginary composite characters in an autobiography is absolutely fraudulent behavior that can lead to litigation.
"Sixth, why did Obama try to suggest on Friday that Reverend Wright left Obama's campaign because of Wright's 'retirement,' thereby suggesting that Wright's removal had nothing to do with Obama's disapproval of Wright's speeches and was simply linked to a 'retirement?' Another Obama rope-a-dope. Once again, Obama was trying to play the 'game' both ways, disowning Wright to please the white media while placating his African-American supporters by crediting Wright's 'retirement' as the reason for his removal.
"If Barack Obama had been as accurate as I have been in reporting the truth abut his past, he would not be in the mess he is in today. I accused him of trying to fool the American people in 2004. I accuse him of the same conduct in 2008. I was right then, and I am right now," Martin stated.

"Fiction: Obama stated in his Convention speech: 'My father ... grew up herding goats.' The 'goat herder' claim has been repeated endlessly. It is a lie. Fact: Obama's grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama was a prominent and wealthy farmer. His son, Obama's father, was a child of privilege, not privation. He was an outstanding student, not a herdsman.
"Fiction: Obama was given an 'African' name. Fact: Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion. I am a strong supporter of the Muslim community, and I believe Muslims have been scapegoated. Obama has a great opportunity to be forthright. Instead, he has treated his Muslim heritage as a dark secret. His grandfather was named 'Hussein.' That is an Arabic-Muslim, not African, name. Hussein was a devout Muslim and named his son, Barack Senior, 'Baraka.' Baraka is an Arabic word meaning 'blessed.' Baraka comes out of the Koran and Arabic, not Africa.
"Barack Senior was also a devoted Muslim, and also chose a Muslim name for his son, our own Barack Obama, Junior. Again, his name was an Arabic and Koranic.
Obama has spent a lifetime running from his family heritage and religious heritage. Would his father have given his son a Koranic name if the father was not a devout Muslim? Obama's stepfather was also a Muslim. Obama will be the first Muslim-heritage senator; he should be proud of that fact. There is nothing to be ashamed of in any of the three great Abrahamic religions.

Fact: Obama was part of one of the most corrupt and violent organizations in Africa: the Kenyatta regime. Obama's father ran back to Kenya soon after the British left. It is likely Obama's father had Mau Mau sympathies or connections, or he would not have been welcomed into the murderous inner circle of rapists, murderers, and arsonists. I believe Obama's secret shame at his family history of rape, murder and arson is what actualizes him. Our research is not yet complete. We are seeking to examine British colonial records.
