Obama expert Andy Martin, who came to Hawai’i a decade ago to begin independent local research into President Barack Obama’s family history, will hold a Honolulu news conference Monday to encourage the University of Hawai’i to renew and reopen its efforts to host the Obama Presidential Library. Andy says recent developments in Chicago have created, at a minimum, confusion as to where the final repository for the original records of the Obama presidency will be located by the National Archives and Records Administration. Andy says UH still has a chance to be the host to Obama’s original records, which will be administered by NARA, because that center will not be located in Chicago.

(Honolulu, HI) (November 20, 2017) Obama expert and conservative columnist/blogger Andy Martin will hold a Honolulu news conference today, Monday, November 20th to encourage the University of Hawaii to renew and reopen its efforts to house President Barack Obama’s original presidential records (“library?”).

“I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say I was President Barack Obama’s original researcher,” Andy says. “I wrote the first critique of his ‘biography’ in 2004 and I came to Hawaii a decade ago and began the first independent scholarly research into his family history. My efforts became the foundation of later work by other writers who, ironically, made my original research ‘controversial.’ My writing was later distorted both by Obama’s supporters, who wanted to control what was the approved version of Obama's family history, and by Obama's opponents, who wanted to create am imaginary presidential birthplace in Kenya.

“But unlike President Trump, I never suggested Obama was born elsewhere. I always stated that my research and evidence pointed solely to his birth in Honolulu. I got it right; Trump did not.

“However, I must confess to a ‘conflict’ that existed within me. On the one hand I had to adhere to scrupulous standards of scholarly research for accuracy and impartiality. I think I met those standards. All of my commentary and analysis about Obama has been vindicated.

“On the other hand, I was a political opponent of President Obama’s policies, and that created an inherent tension. But while President Obama’s political mojo is being enhanced by the current collapse of the Clinton dynasty, Obama is no longer in office and the tension between my scholarly research and my political advocacy is now largely dissipated. My scholarly research on Obama, however, continues.

“And I am once again on the cutting edge of pointing to the discrepancy between the ‘appearance’ and ‘reality’ involving Obama, by raising questions concerning the ultimate and ‘real’ Obama Presidential Library (“OPL”) and an imaginary one which is supposedly being created in Jackson Park, Chicago and which has been named the “Obama Presidential Center” (“OPC”).

“Up until President Obama, the federally-mandated presidential library contained the original documents and the artifacts concerning a presidency (please see link [1] below). President Obama has chosen to depart from that model (please see link [2] below) and in doing so has created serious ongoing confusion. He says the OPC will not be the federally-mandated OPL.

“Some time ago the University of Hawai’i (“UH”), Columbia University in New York and the University of Chicago ‘competed’ to host what was thought to be the OPL. We now know that was not the case. The OPC which is being created in Chicago will not be the federally-mandated repository of the original documents and materials maintained by law by NARA (private funding is used to construct the physical library building). NARA’s ‘original’ records are currently housed in a warehouse in suburban Chicago. But where will they ultimately and finally be housed? That location will become as a matter of law the ‘real’ OPL.

“Because NARA has not announced the final location that location is apparently still an open issue or question. Obviously, the voluminous presidential records are not going to remain in the suburban warehouse forever. Federal law mandates that the original records be made available. But where?

“I encourage UH to renew and reopen its efforts to house the original Obama records since they will become in reality the genuine OPL. Of course others, such as Columbia University and even new institutions are also free to ask NARA to house the original records at their universities.

“I return to what I said a decade ago when I first arrived in Honolulu to study Obama. Scholarly research is scholarly research. We try to find the facts and search for the truth. Scholars deal in original documents and materials, not facsimiles of originals such as will be available in Chicago at the OPC.

“To some extent the people of Chicago and the University of Chicago were bamboozled, because the city was led to believe it was surrendering valuable parkland as the site for an actual presidential library, not a ‘presidential center.’

“I question and will continue to question whether the bankrupt City of Chicago and bankrupt State of Illinois should be funding a Potemkin ‘library’ which is not the real federally-mandated library and merely a ‘center’ where facsimiles of originals are available. But entirely apart from how the OPC will function over time, the documents are a physical reality that have to be housed somewhere by NARA. NARA cannot remain mum indefinitely as to the final location of the Obama records. Until the final location is determined, I assume it is an open question where that will be and I encourage UH to reopen and renew its efforts to host what apparently will become the ‘real’ OPL,” Andy says.

Andy Martin says the National Archives are failing American taxpayers by failing to explain how Obama presidential archives will be displayed and made available

Andy calls for Chicago to reopen the grant of precious parkland for what amounts to nothing more than an “Obama theme park” of no historical or presidential value; the parkland was obtained through trickery and artifice, Andy says

(Manchester, NH) (October 23, 2017) New Hampshire congressional candidate and corruption fighter Andy Martin, who is in Chicago to celebrate fifty years of working on behalf of public integrity, will hold a Chicago news conference today to charge that the “Obama Presidential Center” in Chicago is a scam designed to delay access to the original records of the Barack Obama administration.

“Chicago’s taxpayers have been fooled,” Andy charges. “Friends of the Parks have been fooled, and the National Archives and Records Administration (“NARA”) is being bamboozled and manipulated to continue the secrecy which characterized Obama’s eight years of opaque leadership in the White House. (please see links #1 and #2 below)

“I am launching today am effort to force the City of Chicago and State of Illinois to reconsider granting park land for what is essentially a tax-exempt ‘Obama theme park’ having virtually no historical or scholarly value.

“I will be asking NARA: when did you know that Obama’s ‘Presidential Center’ was not going to be a ‘library?’ Why did you waste millions of dollars shipping and storing documents in a location where they would not be used as intended? Given that you now know that there is no ‘there’ there, how are you preparing to make the actual hard documents and records available for scholarly and media research?

“I see no evidence NARA has announced the time and plans when Obama’s actual records are being curated for display. No evidence of a time and place where scholars can show up to see the original hard copies.

“Bottom line: precious parkland was turned over to Obama for what amounts to a personal, tax-exempt ‘Obama Theme Park.’ The public will have no control and very little input. But, in return for a great big, but typical, Obama nothing, roads will be closed, causing traffic chaos, all to glorify the narcissistic ‘emperor’ of Hyde Park.

“If the City and Park District had known there would be no actual library there (please see link #5 below), the balance might have tipped against destroying a lovely park area, (please see link # 4 below) merely to allow Obama to obstruct a monument to himself and not a genuine repository of American history. The fact that Obama is already promoting his typical type of small bore activity (please see link #3 below), ‘community organizing,’ shows what he has in mind for the facility.

“NARA is letting American taxpayers down. They are misusing the tax dollars of every state from New Hampshire as well as the other 49 states. There are no publicly announced plans for the actual ‘library’ where the actual documents will be displayed. Why? Why is NARA stalling? Taxpayers deserve answers. What did NARA know and when did NARA know that NARA would have to create and construct an actual Obama library 700 miles away, and that shipping records to Chicago was just another Obama boondoggle?

“Let me be clear that I am not against online access as an additional option. But every museum in the world considers online access a supplement for and not a substitute for availability of the original, archival material.

“This is just another Obama scam, a typical Chicago scam and a worthless misuse of taxpayer dollars and precious parkland that explains why the city and state are bankrupt. They allow themselves to be fooled, they willingly abuse the public trust and play games with valuable public property. Finding out where the original documents will be available at a presidential library should not be a game of three-card monte. All we know now is that they rubberized the actual role of the OBC and schemed to create an actual library 700 miles from Chicago.

“Obama wants to delay the release of his actual records and erect a ‘pyramid’ exalting himself on the south side. But, with the library gone, traffic is going to fall precipitously. When you factor in the reduced traffic because the library is 700 miles away, the balance tips decidedly against misappropriating park land for Obama’s glorification. Friends of the Parks please take notice. We deserve answers. I am going to start demanding them.”

Andy will resume his Obama investigation and ‘excavations” in Hawai’i in November.
