Andy Martin says Illinois Politics has hit a new low: The Death Rattle of Tammy Duckworth

America’s leading independent conservative writer and internet Powerhouse says Illinois politics has hit a new low with Tammy Duckworth’s attacks on Joe Walsh’s family. Andy says Duckworth’s smear campaign against Walsh, which is ultimately going to harm Walsh’s children, is a form of child abuse. Duckworth’s smear ads are the sign of a desperate candidate who is disgracing herself. Andy says decent Democrats in the 8th congressional district should vote for Walsh as a protest against Duckworth’s slimy campaign ads.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Conservative blogger and Internet Powerhouse Andy Martin

says Tammy Duckworth’s latest campaign advertising reflects a “new low in Illinois politics”

Andy says Democrats should vote for Republican Joe Walsh to punish Duckworth for her despicable campaign tactics

Andy says Duckworth is engaging in “child abuse” by dragging Walsh’s children into Duckworth’s swirl of TV smear ads

(CHICAGO) (October 24, 2012) Conservative blogger and Internet Powerhouse Andy Martin says Tammy Duckworth’s latest campaign ads, dragging Representative Joe Walsh’s children into her campaign advertising, is a despicable act that should lead to Duckworth’s defeat:

I never would have thought I would come to the defense of Joe Walsh. Joe is not a friend and he has not asked for my help.

Representative Walsh has also said some cringe-worthy things about his current opponent. But Walsh was commenting on his opponent, Tammy Duckworth, not dragging Duckworth’s family into a campaign controversy.

Duckworth’s latest ads, however, dragging Walsh’s children and child support battle into her cmapagn advertising, hits a new low in Illinois politics.

I am no fading violent when it comes to campaign advertising. I have hammered opponents over the years. But my opponents were adults, and adults who are candidates can expect a tough battle in a primary or general election. My ads were always based on facts. And I was even involved in a very rough family-related campaign ad once. But in that instance it was the family members themselves that stepped forward to made the accusations. They went on camera with their charges. So I don’t shy away from rough advertising.

Tammy Duckworth, on the other hand, has had a career of distinguished military service and I honor her for her service and sacrifice. Unfortunately, since leaving the Army she has fallen in with a bad crowd who are exploiting her military sacrifices for their own selfish political ends. Rahm Emanuel and Dick Durbin, Duckworth’s leading sponsors, are two of the most corrupt figures in Illinois politics, not far behind the admirals of the cesspool, Barack Obama and David Axelrod. With Axelrod’s helping hands (dare I say that), Obama rose to the White House by exploiting the sexual peccadilloes of his Illinois opponents.

Almost everyone today has either been through a nasty divorce battle or known someone close to them who has. Divorce and all of the paraphernalia that accompany divorce, such as child custody and visitation wars, support battles and the rest, are a human tragedy for all involved but particularly for the helpless children who are caught up in a failed marriage or relationship. Divorces, particularly when accompanied by nasty custody battles or financial extortion, reflect people at their most vulnerable and, often, at their most despicable.

I don't know a thing about Joe Walsh’s divorce. Without knowing anything I am sure Joe is still angry at his former wife, and I am sure his former wife still harbors anger towards Joe. You don’t have to be a bad guy to get caught up in hostility and irrational anger.

People act out in divorce court in a way that confirms we are only marginally removed from the behavior of apes. Both men and women lie, elaborate extortion schemes are concocted by both spouses, false claims are filed with law enforcement as routine tactics, and so on.

Joe Walsh has a political record. He has served in Congress. If you like Walsh’s record, vote for him. Even if you don’t like Walsh, vote for him to defeat Duckworth and strike a small blow for decency in Illinois politics.

In 1972 (yes my memory goes back that far) the Wall Street Journal published a classic line: “There is no high road in Illinois politics.” And, as if on cue, Duckworth is trying hard to hit the lowest of the low roads for 2012. As I said, Duckworth may have hit a new low in Illinois politics.

There is an obvious question. If Duckworth is so right (and I completely disagree with Duckworth on most issues) and Walsh is so wrong, why not attack Walsh where he should be most vulnerable, on his record? Why bring his kids into the campaign?

Make no mistake, when you drag children into a campaign spectacle and embroil them in vicious campaign advertising, you are engaging in a deliberate and despicable form of child abuse.

Walsh’s children have had to negotiate between the failed relationship of their parents. Without knowing anything about the kids’ problems, I know everything; the separation hasn't been easy for them.

But this much is clear: both Joe and his former wife love their children. Good people often get embroiled in failed relationships or marriages. It's part of life. Is Duckworth so desperate for “issues” she has to drag Walsh’s children into her campaign? Bitter divorces leave scars, permanent scars. That's without “Dirty Duckworth” stepping up to drag the kids into her campaign mudslinging. Is Walsh such a formidable opponent that Duckworth can’t win without using smear tactics?

Not everyone who is a good person is a good candidate. Duckworth is apparently not a particularly inspiring candidate despite her very inspirational life story. Serving the nation in one capacity does not automatically translate into being successful in serving the nation in another capacity.

Walsh could have made his attacks against Duckworth last summer more elegantly, but Joe is almost as ham-handed as Duckworth.

But at the end of the day, and the end of the campaign, if Tammy can’t beat Joe on her issues (and I predicted some months ago to friends Joe was going to win), in a district that was gerrymandered for her to win, then she is a failed candidate. Her latest smear advertising is a literal “death rattle” for her campaign.

Rahm Emanuel and Dick Durbin and the rest of the sleazy leadership of the Illinois Democratic Party have probably told Duckworth she “has nothing to lose” by running her dirty ads. Tammy has everything to lose: her own self-respect and her standing as a candidate, win, lose or draw, the day after the election.

The U. S. Supreme Court once said public officials are allowed to strike hard blows but not foul ones. I have struck a few hard blows myself in my life, but never foul ones. Which is why I have survived in the public arena for half a century. Duckworth is striking foul blows against Joe Walsh and his children. I am ashamed for her.

I could care less whether Joe Walsh is reelected, though I hope he is. I do believe Tammy Duckworth should be solidly defeated to punish her for her despicable efforts to win election by dragging Walsh’s children into her campaign cesspool. For shame, Tammy, for shame.

Mitt Romney Memo #1: Andy Martin explains how Mitt Romney bungled his response to Obama’s lie that “Romney wants to bankrupt the auto industry”

Romney’s Rangers, The Independent Mitt Romney Political Action Team led by Republican activist Andy Martin, is beginning a series of “Debate Prep” memos for Governor Mitt Romney. In “Mitt Memo #1” Andy exposes Barack Obama’s lies about Romney’s 2008 proposal to rescue the auto industry. Andy explains what Romney actually said in 2008. Andy critiques Romney’s response to relentless accusations that Romney wanted to “bankrupt the auto industry” in 2008, perhaps the wildest and most bogus attack that Barack Obama has hurled at Romney. Andy explains to Romney what Romney actually said, and compares what Romney actually said with what Obama actually did. More memos will follow. Andy exposes Obama’s “Romney wanted to destroy the auto industry” “Big Lie” with the facts, since Romney himself has never made an effective response to Obama’s fraudulent accusations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Romney’s Rangers, led by Republican Party activist and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin, begins a new series of “Debate Prep” memos for Governor Mitt Romney

Andy was and is a strong supporter of Governor Mitt Romney

Andy says Romney has never effectively answered Barack Obama’s bogus accusation that Romney wanted to “bankrupt” the auto industry in 2008

As usual, Andy is completely tethered to the facts, which the media have studiously ignored while endlessly repeating Obama’s “Big Lie” about Romney’s 2008 proposals

Andy Martin begins his new series of “insider memos” for Mitt Romney, since Romney’s own staff has failed to adequately advise the governor

In effect, Andy has become Mitt Romney’s own “management consultant”

(Manchester, NH) (October 16, 2012) Republican Party activist Andy Martin announced today that he is producing a new series of “Mitt Memos,” in which he guides the candidate on how to deal with problems in Romney’s campaign.

Mitt Memo #1: Romney never proposed “bankrupting” the auto industry

1. The background to Barack Obama’s false accusation

A. In 2005 I published a column proposing that General Motors file for bankruptcy (the column is not independently online but you can read it at the bottom of footnote/link [2] below. My column created a stir in the auto industry and received considerable attention for its dramatic conclusions and proposal, see link/footnote [3] below. What made my observations particularly trenchant is that I consider myself a friend of the UAW (United Auto Workers), not an enemy, and it was a painful analysis to present to GM workers.

B. In 2008, during the fall financial crisis, Mitt Romney published an op-ed column on the auto industry, see footnote/link [1] below. The New York Times, not Romney, gave the article the misleading headline “Let Detroit go bankrupt.” Romney’s column may be the least read and most misconstrued op-ed remarks in history. Barack Obama uses the column to suggest that Romney is anti-auto and wanted to “bankrupt” the industry. Nothing could be further from the facts, all of which are contained within Romney’s own column. (Read the full column and judge for yourself whether my characterization is a fair one.) Ironically, Romney proposed in 2008 the exact approach which I had recommended in 2005!

C. What Romney said was the following:

“The American auto industry is vital to our national interest as an employer and as a hub for manufacturing. A managed bankruptcy may be the only path to the fundamental restructuring the industry needs…The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk.”

Romney also said:

“I believe the federal government should invest substantially more in basic research…The federal government should also rectify the imbedded tax penalties that favor foreign car makers.”

Do any of Romney’s remarks sound “anti-auto?” Thank you. Then why has Romney allowed Obama to lie and lie and lie about Romney’s proposal to rescue the auto industry in 2008?

D. So what is a “managed bankruptcy?” There are two types of bankruptcy proceedings. In Chapter 7, failed firms are liquidated and their assets are sold off. The business ends. In Chapter 11, firms are reorganized under court supervision, labor contracts are usually modified, excess assets are sold and the business is placed on a sound financial footing. Over the years, skillful lawyers created “managed bankruptcy” proceedings, where the financial deals were cut before the bankruptcy case was actually filed, and the creditors knew what was going to happen and what they were going to get in advance. Managed bankruptcies are used to avoid the uncertainty and delay that can sometimes take place in an unstructured proceeding.

E. What President Obama did in early 2009 is to exactly and precisely follow Mitt Romney’s suggestions, and arrange managed bankruptcies for GM and Chrysler, with one major exception. Instead of protecting creditors and auto workers as a whole, Obama only protected UAW workers. GM auto workers that were not UAW members were thrown on the street. Workers from other industries who had invested their pension money in the auto industry saw their pension assets diminished so that the UAW could receive special compensation and indemnity. In other words, Obama rewarded his friends, and stole from people who didn’t know the president was raiding their pocketbooks.

2. The problem Romney faces

Governor, you have badly bungled Barack Obama’ accusation that you wanted to “bankrupt” and destroy the auto industry. Perhaps more than any issue Obama’s auto industry accusation accounts for your inability to take a strong lead in the race against the president. Obama’s accusation that you were anti-auto and wanted to bankrupt and destroy the auto industry is perhaps one of the biggest lies, if not the biggest lie, in the history of American politics. And yet you have let Obama and his stooges get away with their nonsense, and allowed the lie to be propagated over and over again by the media.

3. My proposed answer for Romney at the debate

Thank you for your question. In 2009, President Obama did exactly what I proposed to rescue the auto industry in my column in 2008. Since then, President Obama and his supporters have lied (“misrepresented?”) my 2008 proposal to rescue the auto industry, and have lied about what I proposed and what they did, because my 2008 proposal precisely tracked what the president did in 2009.

I proposed “managed bankruptcies” for GM and Chrysler. What did Obama do? He arranged managed bankruptcies for GM and Chrysler. Obama’s attempt to suggest I wanted to destroy or dismantle the auto industry is a Big Lie, perhaps the Biggest Lie ever in American politics. The “managed bankruptcy” which I proposed is exactly what the president did. The financial agreements were worked out in advance of filing the proceedings in the bankruptcy court, and both GM and Chrysler were saved exactly as I had outlined. I wish Barack Obama would start telling the truth abut what I proposed and what he did, and stop lying about me and stop lying about what I proposed in 2008. Obama’s claim that I was “anti-auto” is a disgrace to him personally and to his supporters that constantly repeat the big lie. You can read my column and see for yourself how Obama has distorted the truth. Only a desperate candidate lies about his opponent. What does that say about the president? How can you trust someone who distorts the truth and the facts the way the president has?

4. Closing observations by Andy

Romney can prepare his response to make it slightly softer, but the facts are the facts. Both the liberal media and Obama and his stooges have blatantly lied about Mitt Romney’s 2008 proposal to rescue the auto industry. They have used a misleading headline which Romney did not write, and ignored what Romney actually did write. Romney has allowed himself to be a punching bag for Obama’s lies. When is Romany going to call out the president and expose Obama’s lies? Maybe tonight.

Mitt Romney is a decent man who made the same auto industry proposal in 2008 that I had made in 2005. Romney has been vilified by the media, none of whom have read his original remarks. The media have failed to expose Obama’s lies and distortions. What does that tell you about the media?

Tuesday night, take off the gloves Mitt. Memo # 2 will soon follow. And then #3.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW YORK NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL AND NEW YORK DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Romney’s Rangers, led by Republican Party activist and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin, will ask Mitt Romney to fight for American workers

Andy says Mitt Romney should declare a “divorce” from Bain Capital by supporting Sensata workers

Andy says “the road to the White House runs through Freeport, Illinois”

Andy Martin, Mitt Romney’s de facto “management consultant,” asks Romney to be bold and seize the potential for a landslide victory

(Manchester, NH) (October 20, 2012) Republican Party activist Andy Martin will hold a New York City news conference Saturday, October 20h to ask Romney to join Andy in going to Freeport, Illinois to call on Bain Capital to suspend efforts to close the Sensata Technologies plant in Freeport. Andy says “Sensata is Mitt Romney’s opportunity for a ‘Sister Souljah moment’ that will ensure Romney wins the White house by a landslide.”

Andy’s letter to Governor Romney, which Andy will discuss at his news conference, follows below:

October 20, 2012

Governor Mitt Romney

PO Box 149756

Boston, MA 02114-9756

Re: Sensata Technologies

Dear Governor Romney:

You are no doubt aware of the controversy involving your investment in Sensata Technologies (“Sensata”). In this letter I would like to invite you to join me in a “Sister Souljah” moment that I believe will ensure your election to the presidency by a landslide margin, by challenging Sensata’s corporate management.

1. Background of my strong support for your candidacy

On September 12, 2012, when you came under attack by other Republicans for your correct criticism of the Obama administration, I stepped forward to support you and to predict that “Benghazi-gate” would end up being the issue that defeated President Obama for reelection. On September 23rd I again stepped up, while you were again under attack by “doubting” Republicans, and strongly endorsed your candidacy.

There are many, many people working hard to elect you. But I am surely among the most loyal and hardest working. I have given great thought to winning strategies for your candidacy (because I publish a blog I have a public record you can study). Next week I will be working in Nevada, and the final week of the campaign I will be home in New Hampshire, working for your election. I am completely committed to electing you as president.

I also have forty-six years of both Washington and grass roots political experience. While the late Governor Lawton Chiles used to tease me as his “dry cleaners” Republican I wash my own clothes. Moreover, unlike many in our party, I am comfortable with and have a high regard for the men and women who work on the “shop floors” of America. My family immigrated to Manchester 100 years ago and they worked in the Amoskeag Mills under arduous conditions. Thus, my advice comes laminated with practical experience about working families.

2. Origins of the term “Sister Souljah” moment

Sister Souljah was a racist performer. In 1992, then-candidate Bill Clinton went to a meeting where Souljah spoke. Clinton criticized Souljah for her racist remarks. By criticizing Souljah, Clinton separated himself from the inability and unwillingness of the Democratic Party to condemn African-American racism. Clinton established his credibility as a “New” Democrat. “Sister Souljah moment” has entered our political lexicon.

But the original Sister Souljah moment may have come in 1960. Up until 1960, the African-American vote was still very sympathetic to the Republican Party, and with good reason. The Southern Democratic Party was the home of racism and repression. Senator John Kennedy called Coretta Scott King when her husband Reverend Martin Luther King was jailed. Kennedy’s gesture may have won him the presidency by giving him urban votes across America.

3. Your Sister Souljah moment

Right now the trend line is in your favor. I predict you will win the presidency. But you may not win a mandate. You need a mandate. You need to establish yourself as the unquestioned leader of the Republican Party and the American people. This is your Sister Souljah moment. I believe as you continue reading you will agree with me you have a Sister Souljah opportunity to act decisively, to solidify the support of American workers and to win the presidency with a real mandate.

4. Your election problems in Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin

A. Let’s be honest, working people don’t trust you. And President Obama and his minions are doing everything they can to stir the distrust. You need a game-changing gesture to solidify the confidence of working families. Right now the Heartland is up for grabs: Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin. A bold gesture to working families would win these states and with them the presidency. The road to the White House, by winning Ohio, Wisconsin and Iowa, runs straight through Freeport, Illinois.

B. One of your investments, Sensata Technologies (“Sensata”) has come back to haunt you. Sensata has announced a plant closing and brought in Chinese workers to take away American jobs by exporting them to China. That’s not a pretty picture and it conflicts with your stated policy of reclaiming American manufacturing. By all appearances Sensata employees are loyal, solid, hardworking Heartland workers. They do a good job and produce quality products; So why take their jobs away?

Bain Capital and its investors are simply wrong, flat wrong, totally wrong. Profits gained at the expense of loyal workers are tainted. I personally condemn any American firm, including Apple, that profits from slave labor conditions in China. I personally try to boycott such products.

Obama is exploiting your Sensata investment to fan doubts about your “divorce” from Bain Capital. But Obama’s attacks offer an opportunity for a Sister Souljah moment.

C. I ask you to join me in Freeport, at the Sensata plant gates, to call on Bain Capital and the Sensata management to reverse the Freeport plant closing. Later on in this letter I will explain why you should do so. But I am absolutely convinced that if we turn up at Sensata’s gates and ask Bain to suspend and reverse the plant closing, that gesture will be your Sister Souljah moment and ensure your election – by a landslide – to the presidency.

I am asking you to take a bold step. But the rewards for boldness will be immense. You will not only win the White House but you will receive an independent mandate as a leader.

5. Why you must act on the Sensata tragedy

A. By staying silent while Obama attacks you – and I don’t doubt that Sensata will appear as an issue on Monday evening’s “foreign policy debate” – Obama will ensure the question is raised – you hand the Democrats a lever to fan fears and to encourage voters to stay safely in Obama’s embrace on November 6th. If you show working families you are independent of Bain Capital as a candidate, and will be independent as a president, you will “close the deal” with America’s workers and win the presidency.

B. Your response to Sensata questions has been that you left Bain in 1999. That is not a sufficient response. It is a self-defeating response. Investors do not surrender their free speech rights when they invest in a firm. On the contrary, you have a duty to act when managers in a firm where you are a stakeholder are acting contrary to your policies or America’s self-interest. Every investor, passive or active, has free speech rights to criticize management.

You have every right to comment publicly on Bain's disastrous public relations in poisoning our economy by exporting Illinois jobs to China. There is absolutely no barrier to your commenting - as an investor – about your desires as an investor concerning corporate policy.

Your blind trust argument doesn’t work as an excuse either, because the Sensata investment is apparently part of your tax returns.

Looking for excuses to remain silent on the Sensata situation is the wrong approach. Be bold. Tell Bain the old ways will no longer be your ways. Ask Bain to suspend the plant closing and to reinstate the workers. Declare your independence from the “burdens of Bain” that are weighing down your candidacy.

C. President Obama criticized you at the last debate for exporting jobs to China and he will no doubt criticize you again (look at my “Mitt Memo #1,” in which I correctly predicted Obama would raise the issue of the automobile industry last week). I do not believe President Obama is a competent president, but he is a more-than-competent candidate and rabble rouser. He has tied Bain Capital around your neck; you need to cut the noose and free yourself from Bain.

Is maintaining misguided loyalty to Bain worth losing the presidency? You get the point.

If you really left in 1999 you should have no hesitation to criticize management even if you are only a limited partner or passive investor in Bain/Sensata.

D. I am absolutely convinced that if you speak out against Bain’s unwise management policies you will reap immediate “dividends" from working families across America. You have a right to say that what was acceptable in the 1990’s is no longer acceptable in the 2010’s. If we stand at the plant gate and you tell people you will do everything you can to save their jobs, overnight you will become a hero to working Americans. You will gain their trust. Don’t be afraid of working people or union members; embrace them.

So how about it? I admire you and Ann immensely. I don’t have any personal dislike for President Obama but we simply can’t stand “four more years” of stagnation at home and retreat abroad. I want you to win. And I want you to win in a way that makes you the president of all the people, an independent leader who is not beholden to either party or parochial interests. America needs a president. A president of all the people.

I’m busy working for your election every day. But I am ready to drop what I am doing and head for Freeport as soon as you call. The Heartland wants to support you; give them a Sister Souljah moment to close the deal.

Let’s roll!

Let’s roll!

Did Barack Obama try to discredit foreign policy expert Andy Martin who blew the whistle on Benghazi-gate?

Republican foreign policy expert and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin “blew the whistle” on Benghazi-gate on September 12th. Before anyone else in government or politics would come to Governor Mitt Romney’s defense, Andy Martin stood up and stood out and defended Romney’s criticism of the Obama regime. While “Washington Republicans” were undermining Romney, Andy Martin stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the governor. On September 12th Andy predicted that “Obama’s foreign policy collapse is now the paramount reason to remove him from the White House.” In response, President Obama’s lackeys may have used The Associated Press to counterattack and discredit Andy. The effort backfired. The record documents that Andy Martin was the first analyst to recognize both the military significance and the political significance the “Benghazi-gate” attacks would play in the presidential campaign.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Party foreign policy expert and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin was first to analyze and disclose the significance of Benghazi-gate – on September 12th

Andy was and is a strong supporter of Governor Mitt Romney

Andy says President Obama’s operatives may have tried to use The Associated Press to undermine and discredit Andy’s prescient commentary on Benghazi-gate

(Manchester, NH) (October 14, 2012) Republican Party foreign policy expert and New Hampshire activist Andy Martin was the first foreign policy analyst to defend Governor Mitt Romney and to disclose the domestic political impact of the September 11th attacks on the U. S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. His views:

I. The long history of conflict between Barack and Andy

In 2004 I wrote the first disclosure that Barack Obama’s “autobiography” was mostly fiction. I asked the publisher to put Obama’s book on the “fiction” shelves, not the biography section. Obama was very irritated that I had scored a bull’s eye on his credibility. During the 2008 presidential campaign I disclosed major new aspects of Obama’s “hidden history,” culminating in a national appearance on “Sean Hannity’s America” where I accused Obama of being a “socialist” (link below). I was the first independent investigator to go to Hawai’i to dig for the truth about Obama; what I discovered there has increasingly become accepted doctrine in the conservative community. The Obama campaign took notice of my criticism.

II. Obama’s long history of attempts to discredit Andy Martin

Obama’s initial retaliation against me took the form of cyber attacks. Later, in October, 2008 Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs went on “Hannity and Colmes” and accused Hannity of being an “anti-Semite” because Hannity had me as a guest on his program (despite George Soros’ relentless attacks on Hannity and me, neither I nor Hannity are anti-Semites; Gibbs’ attack was just another diversionary attack). Obama assets later attacked me in New Hampshire. On September 19th, 2012 Obama & Company may have used The Associated Press to discredit my exposure of Benghazi-gate and my prediction that the murder of American diplomats would doom Obama’s reelection.

Take a look at the facts and look closely at the time-line. Then you be the judge.

III. Andy Martin’s chilling predictions on September 5th

On September 5th I filed a column (links below) accusing Hillary Clinton of “undermining the war on terror” and calling for her resignation. I made my accusation during the same period when Clinton was denying adequate security to her diplomatic staff in Libya. I outlined how Hillary Clinton’s loyalty to the “Clinton Global Initiative” created a conflict with U. S. security interests overseas.

In retrospect, my claim that I sometimes “see over the horizon before our own diplomats do” proved to be tragically accurate a week later.

IV. Andy Martin comes to the defense of Mitt Romney

On September 11th Al Qaeda associates launched a terrorist attack on the U. S. Consulate in Benghazi. The liberal media immediately attacked Governor Mitt Romney for his criticism of the Obama administration’s response to the earlier Cairo "video" demonstrations. Obama & Co., through their media parrots, accused Romney or “undermining” foreign policy. I vigorously defended Romney and said that Benghazi-gate would “doom President Obama to reelection defeat” (links below; read the entire story). I expressly defended Romney against attacks by “Washington Republicans.” I further predicted “Obama's foreign failures are coming crashing down on him just as he runs for reelection at home.”

I focused on the seriousness of the Benghazi attack long before anyone else would step up to defend Governor Romney. Belatedly, everyone is now supporting Romney. But on September 12th Republicans were wringing their hands at Romney's honesty and his forthright criticism of Obama's failed foreign “apology policy.” I defended the governor before it was safe and popular to do so. And I also provided the “first look” into both the political and diplomatic significance of Benghazi-gate.

IV. The Associated Press attempts to undermine Andy Martin

As though acting on cue for the Obama administration, on September 19th The Associated Press mysteriously ran a national story which appeared on every major web site in the United States calling me a “legend in my own mind” and referring to me as a “self-proclaimed Republican foreign policy expert.” There was nothing whatsoever that I had done to justify a national story. The Associated Press distributes stories locally, regionally or nationally based on their importance; a national or “A-Wire” story carries national importance.

What had I done to justify national attention by AP? Well, in the AP’s snide words, “nothing.” I was an “imaginary” expert. Why would AP be covering an “imaginary” and “self-proclaimed” foreign policy analyst? Makes you wonder.

V. Why is Andy different from “Washington Republicans” and liberal media “experts?”

I have not had a conventional career. I started out in politics, segued into political intelligence, was educated as a lawyer and became a foreign policy expert in dangerous places around the world (see listing below). I have a track record of accurate analysis. The liberal media’s “experts” do not. You can check my predictions going back to Iraq in 2003. My views were not popular then. I predicted the ultimate failure of the invasion.

I am a “classic conservative” critic, which means I take a conservative view of life. I am not a conservative weenie who swallows the conservative party line without question. So, instead of having “one” career, I have had several careers, sometimes simultaneously. And, my multiple experiences all provide me with a multi-dimensional or polymathic perspective on each new challenge. That’s why I claim to occasionally “see over the horizon.” Been there, done that.

VI. Andy against exposes Obama’s chaos in the Middle East

On September 23rd I again analyzed the growing chaos in Obama’s foreign policy (links blow), calling the “Libya-video” story a “canard” and again calling for Hillary Clinton’s resignation. Here is part of what I said on September 23rd:

“With every passing day the Benghazi disaster and the murder of our ambassador becomes the most serious foreign policy fiasco since Jimmy Carter’s Iran hostage crisis. Hillary Clinton has appointed a ‘committee’ to study her own incompetence. Wow.

“Obama’s U. N. ambassador claimed the Libya attack was due to a ‘video.’ Obama’s news secretary repeated the ‘video’ canard. President Obama went on Univision and said he ‘didn’t have all the facts,’ which is a form of paranoid schizophrenic defense mechanism.

VII. The bottom line: Obama lied; Andy exposed the truth

In retrospect it all looks so orderly. I predicted on September 5th Clinton was “endangering” Americans. On September 12th I defended Mitt Romney after the consulate attack. On September 19th The Associated Press mysteriously published a national story saying I was an imaginary expert and specifically referencing my own news story of September 12. On September 23rd I made new predictions which have been validated by subsequent events.

I am writing this column for two reasons: First, I would like to defend my own national security and foreign policy credentials as compared with those of other media that lack my experience in the real world. Second, the events of the past month reflect how the national media relentlessly seek to discredit and undermine critics of President Obama by ridiculing their qualifications and experience. Maybe that’s why Barack Obama’s own operatives have been using the media to attack me for the past several years. They are afraid of the truth, and they are afraid of me. You be the judge. (This should be the end of the story.)

OK, a column based on accurate predictions should make another prediction. Lawyers have an old rubric about clients that don’t pay their bills. The saying goes, “Clients should never refuse to pay either their lawyers or their accountants. They could run into “problems.” Here’s the prediction: Presidents and vice presidents should never dump on their diplomats and intelligence agencies. They could run into “problems.” Obama’s attempt to blame the clandestine services for his own failures in Libya will boomerang and backfire.

[Andy has over forty years of familiarity with Asia and the Middle East; he is regarded overseas as one of America’s most respected independent foreign policy, military and intelligence analysts. His analysis of the terrorist threat in Iran during the 1979-80 hostage crisis, and again in Iraq in 2003, were leading-edge predictions of what Americans faced in the future.

Andy first went to Asia in 1967 and since then he has been in Israel, Jordan, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Viet-Nam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Burma and Hong Kong. He was in Iran and Afghanistan in 1979-80, and has regularly returned to Southwest Asia since then. He lived in Iraq in 2003.]

High drama unfolds in a New Hampshire courtroom; Andy Martin granted amicus curiae status by the court

New Hampshire corruption-fighter and maverick Republican Party activist Andy Martin was in Strafford County Superior Court Thursday afternoon as an electric confrontation unfolded between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of New Hampshire government. Superior Court Justice John Lewis granted Andy status as an amicus curiae and postponed a decision on Andy’s motion to intervene. The “student voter” lawsuit now heads to the New Hampshire Supreme Court as the high-stakes, high-profile conflict continues. Andy says the lawsuit could determine the outcome of a close presidential election.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Hampshire Republican Party corruption-fighter Andy Martin experiences an unusual high stakes hearing in Strafford County Superior Court

The Strafford County case could determine the outcome of a close presidential election, Andy says

Andy is granted amicus curiae status by the superior court justice

Andy will be in the New Hampshire Supreme Court Friday

Sharp exchanges mark the 2-1/2 hour hearing Thursday afternoon on student voting

(Manchester, NH) (October 5, 2012) “In the forty-four years since I first walked into a courtroom as a public interest litigant, I have almost never seen anything quite like what I witnessed in the Strafford County Superior Court on Thursday,” Andy Martin observes.

“The Strafford County Courthouse is a 1970’s brick and glass moderne structure that sits on a site that is barely removed from being a pasture. Across the street is the county jail and probably in earlier years the county farm (the courthouse is on County Farm Road).

“The superior court justice was whip smart and interested in doing the right thing.

“The dry Associated Press report (link below) which concentrates on Secretary of State Bill Gardner’s affidavit, does not do justice to the drama which unfolded.

“Originally scheduled for an hour, the hearing lasted two and a half hours. There was a battle royal, or maybe just a giant food fight, between the three branches of New Hampshire government.

“The court began by considering three motions to intervene in the case. The court questioned the authority of the Speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives to intervene as a party; the Speaker was granted amicus curiae status. A vigorous exchange characterized the Speaker’s and the justice’s consideration of the intervention motion.

“Then another intervener was heard, and his motion was denied (and later converted to “ruling deferred”).

“My motion to intervene was then heard by the court.

“The court granted me status as an amicus curiae. After some argument about what was the proper procedure, the justice decided to defer a ruling on my motion to intervene. I was seated at counsel table and the hearing on the merits of the controversy began.

“In what was an unusual scene, the justice began asking the attorney general if he could adequately represent the secretary of state. The justice then addressed the secretary of state directly, and the secretary asked for a time out. Surreal.

“Eventually, Secretary of State Bill Gardner answered the court’s questions for what seemed like an extended period.

“Later there was another sharp exchange between the justice and the Speaker’s counsel.

“The justice appeared to be concerned that the initial hearing in the case held in mid-September might not have been sufficiently adversarial and sufficiently informative for the court. As this is written I have not yet seen an amended order from the justice but I expect one to appear some time Friday.

“My principal contribution to the proceedings was to support the judge in his searching inquiry questioning the plaintiffs ‘standing’ to file the lawsuit, and my succinct discussion of the relationship between ‘standing’ and the court’s subject matter jurisdiction. I will be filing a very informative motion of my own in the Supreme Court on Friday.

“All in all the hearing in Dover was one of the most adversarial and confrontational I have ever seen.

“The constitutional issues are profound. The State House believes the legislators changed the law and did so clearly. There is strong legal authority for that view. Secretary Gardner and I believe the House wanted to end ‘dual domicile,’ which creates a conflict between general residency and voting domicile. As the hearing continued the issues became more complex.

“No one can predict what a supreme court will do. But here is my best guess. I believe the court will accept the new law, accept the amendments and endorse the House’s view that it intended to and did end ‘dual domicile.’ I believe Secretary Gardner and I will prevail on that position. In the meantime, we could see a slugfest next week.

“Fasten your seat belts. This is not a dull case and the hearings are not boring. I have seldom seen such electricity in a courtroom.

“And, hovering over the proceedings is former president Bill Clinton’s exhortation to students at UNH Wednesday afternoon to flood New Hampshire polling places with liberal out-of-state voters.

“Every New Hampshire voter and every New Hampshire taxpayer has a vital interest in the outcome of this lawsuit. Whatever the bland news reports may say, this was an electric hearing Thursday afternoon. Expect more voltage on all sides,” Andy believes.

“Lights, action, cameras.”

[We will distribute our Supreme Court filing after it is delivered to the court Friday afternoon.]
