Andy Martin: The New York Times lies when it says President Trump’s voter fraud claims are a “fantasy”

The New York times has accused President Trump of engaging in “fantasy” when Trump says voter fraud is a major problem. Conservative New Hampshire Republican Party activist Andy Martin shows how Democratic election fraud cheated President Trump out of New Hampshire’s electoral votes in November, and how U. S. Senator Kelly Ayotte was cheated out of reelection, almost certainly on the basis of fraudulent Massachusetts and other out-of-state votes. Andy says Trump is not engaging in fantasy accusations. Rather, the New York Times and the liberal media and cable TV bobbleheads are the ones who are lying.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Andy Martin says the New York Times is lying to its readers when it says President Trump’s voter fraud claims are a “fantasy”

Andy documents how Democrats used fraudulent votes to cheat Donald Trump out of New Hampshire’s electoral votes, and how U. S. Senator Kelly Ayotte was defeated on the basis of fraudulent voting and voters

Andy says there is a nationwide crisis with illegal, non-citizen voting in federal elections

(Near the Winter White House, Florida) (January 30, 2017)

Dear American:

I’m temporarily based near the Winter White House in Florida, awaiting the arrival of President Trump next weekend. But don’t expect me to vote here based on my temporary presence. Sadly, in my home state of New Hampshire, thousands of illegal, out-of-state voters robbed now-President Donald Trump and Senator Kelly Ayotte of victory in November.

On Saturday, the New York Times carried a lead editorial claiming President Donald Trump’s voter fraud claims were a “fantasy” (please see link #1 below). The New York Times was lying. As an institution that claims to be concerned with factual accuracy, the Times was wrong on the facts, wrong on the law and wrong on “reality.”

As someone who has spent a lifetime fighting political corruption and voter fraud, I am a legitimate expert on the topic. After reading my remarks I hope you will agree that the Times, not Trump, is living in a dream world when it comes to voter fraud.

Fraudulent voting in New Hampshire in November almost certainly cost Senator Kelly Ayotte her U. S. Senate seat and President Trump my state’s electoral votes. Below I will provide the evidence to support my opinion.

The reason Democrats pretend that vote fraud does not exist is because the dominance of the Democratic Party in big cities is based, in part, on election fraud. So Democrats and their supporters in the media have a vested interest in deflecting Trump’s Executive Order calling for an investigation.

1. If you ask the wrong question you will get the wrong answer

Donald Trump is not a “detail” man when it comes to politics. He is not a researcher. But he has an uncanny sense of what is wrong and what is right with our society. He also has common sense. Trump began making vote fraud claims during the 2016 election. He was spot on.

A.  The media’s response to Trump’s accusations has been to claim there is “no evidence” to support his claims. But why is there no evidence? Because the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations made no efforts to collect the evidence or to mandate that the states conduct authentication tests on their voter records. So it’s easy to accuse Trump and others of lacking “evidence” when the government itself is suppressing collection of that evidence.

B. When the media focuses on “vote fraud” they invariably suggest that vote fraud involves fraudulent voting on Election Day, that is, persons who vote under another person’s name. Actually, vote fraud has many prongs and manifestations. Voter impersonation is probably one of the least significant. It is actually true that few people show up on Election Day and misrepresent their identity. But voter impersonation, while a serious crime, is a minute part of the problem. What the media try to accomplish by diminishing vote fraud and limiting that fraud to one category is to point to a “tree” instead of to the “forest” of fraud.

C. The real problem with fraudulent voting arises out of non-citizen voting. Only lawful U. S. Citizens can vote in federal elections. Yet the Democratic Party establishment, and the Clinton and Obama administrations, have systematically prevented any inquiry into the citizenship of registered voters. The result is that in our most populous states with a massive legal and illegal immigrant presence, non-citizen voting is unmonitored, unregulated and uncounted.

D. In addition to non-citizen voting, there are many other forms of voting abuse. Dead voters “voting,” and multi-state voting are a couple of serious problems, please see links #2 - #4 below.

2. New Hampshire’s experience with voter fraud

Because New Hampshire allows same day voter registration, thousands of people turn up without even having made the effort to obtain a local New Hampshire driver license or ID. And yet they want to vote. Many of these people - who curiously under New Hampshire law are entitled to vote with an out-of-state ID - then give erroneous addresses to election officials. Confirmation letters are returned (please see link #5 below].

For the November election Clinton campaign officials attempted to have Massachusetts residents temporarily living in New Hampshire vote illegally in New Hampshire; thousands of them, mostly out-of-state students, did. Senator Ayotte lost by 1,000 votes. Ayotte was almost certainly cheated out of reelection by illegal out-of-state voters. Curiously, Ayotte did not demand a recount or challenge invalid voters.

Trump also lost New Hampshire by a narrow margin. Since 6,000 people used out-of-state ID’s to vote, Trump can plausibly claim that he was cheated out of New Hampshire’s electoral votes by illegal Massachusetts voters crossing state lines without any lawful domicile in New Hampshire and casting fraudulent votes.

We can also see “confusing questions” by local media confusing the facts to present a distorted picture. When asked if New Hampshire had a false impersonation voting problem, Secretary of State Bill Gardner correctly said “no.” But he then went on to detail how thousands of people without any New Hampshire ID voted, and how the addresses they gave resulted in returned mail. If giving a false address isn’t fraud, what is? (please see link #5)

Fraudulent same-day registrations, and returned confirmation letters after Election Day, are a chronic problem in New Hampshire. The Union Leader newspaper says Democrats want to encourage illegal voting by non-residents of New Hampshire, please see link #5 (second entry). No surprise there. Although he was attacked for making the same accusation, Governor Sununu also accused Massachusetts voters of crossing over to New Hampshire, please see link #5 (third entry). The Democrats are openly engaging in what politicians call “honest graft.”

My personal opinion is that people without a valid New Hampshire ID should not be allowed to vote. Just in the Trump and Ayotte races, illegal voters almost certainly determined the outcome due to a quirk of federal law. Under the Motor Voter Act, to retain an exception from compliance New Hampshire is required to allow same-day Election Day registration, please see link #6 below.

Not surprisingly, New Hampshire’s newly elected Governor Chris Sununu is calling for election law changes, and State Representative David Bates wants to create a photo data base of voters who lack a local ID, please see link #7. Why not just ban the practice entirely? (Full disclosure: Secretary of State Bill Gardner and I were on the same side in a lawsuit in Strafford County, opposing illegal voting in New Hampshire by persons whose domicile was in another state. Democratic Party operatives supported illegal voting by out-of-state voters.)

3. Vote fraud across the states

Let me start with a concession: reasonable people can disagree over the total amount of vote fraud and voter intimidation because we do not have hard evidence to confirm the ultimate number. But Florida investigators, for example, found evidence of illegal voting by both illegal and legal aliens (who are not entitled to vote). Please see link #8.

In Chicago, vote fraud is an art. Dead voters? Check? Impersonation voting? Check. Improperly influencing senior citizens in nursing homes to vote Democratic? Check. A good friend of mine was an assistant attorney general in a Republican-held office at the time. He was posted by his political organization to monitor a precinct on Election Day. There was massive vote fraud by Democratic party precinct workers. I could go on and on. Chicago vote fraud elected President John Kennedy in 1960. Over fifty years later the city is still an electoral cesspool.

4. Why would anyone vote illegally when legal voters do not?

One of the basic memes of liberal media commentators is that “we try to hard to get legal voters to vote, and only 50% show up, so why would an ineligible voter turn up on Election Day?” There are many reasons. Crowd mentality has a powerful psychological impact on individual behavior. Go to church on almost any Sunday and the pews are largely empty. And yet these same empty churches are filled to overcapacity on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. The impact of public or community psychology on ineligible voters making an effort to turn up on Election Day is thus not surprising. Individuals respond to public pressure and peer behavior.

New Hampshire’s experience is instructive. Because you can register on Election Day without taking even the basic step of obtaining a local New Hampshire ID, people just turn up to vote. I believe many of them are voting illegally because they are domiciled in other states. But I am sure there are also some “lazy voters” who don’t bother to get an ID (legally required to drive) and end up voting because of the peer pressure generated by the media and political organizations.

Under the Motor Voter Act, registering to vote is a no-brainer. You check a couple of boxes and registration is automatically performed for you. But are these motor voter registrants or welfare recipients actually legal U. S. Citizens? No one knows. All efforts to find out have been stymied by Democratic Party officials.

5. What are my suggestions?

A.  I like New Hampshire’s approach. We do not make it easy to vote early. Absentee voting is limited and early voting is not allowed. So people actually show up on Election Day and vote! What a surprise. People who make the effort to vote show genuine interest. They are certainly not voting in late September or early October when the election campaign is in its early stages.

B. Because the federal government has an interest in voting, see the federal Motor Voter Act (link #6 below), Congress could require states to update voter data bases by (i) requiring new registrants to establish citizenship and/or (ii) requiring states to verify that existing voters were citizens. There would be an initial burden, but people could be assisted to comply.

C. Whatever approach is ultimately adopted, we must mandate that only lawful U. S. Citizens participate in our federal elections. Period. We must also mandate that a person can only be registered to vote in one location, which is that person’s domicile, usually determined by a driver license. Showing up to register or vote with an out of state ID is an insult to ballot integrity. And, as we have seen in just one state, in just one election, voter fraud and manipulation in November cost Trump New Hampshire’s votes and elected an illegal U. S. Senator.

By now, I hope you agree with me that President Trump is “on to something” when he claims voter fraud is a serious problem and wants an investigation (please see link #9 below). I have just shown how he was cheated out of New Hampshire’s votes by Clintonista election corruption. And, in my opinion, Senator Kelly Ayotte was also cheated out of her reelection by voting trickery and fraud.

That’s why I believe the New York Times is lying. What happened in New Hampshire, happened in other states, particularly New York, Illinois and California. Popular vote anyone? I do not trust the numbers and neither should you. Instead of ridiculing Trump, the media should be endorsing Trump’s call for an investigation. That call will never come. Liberal election fraud and liberal state voter fraud is as American as apple pie. Put another way, the media are not about to upset the liberals’ vote fraud applecart.

Media and combat expert Andy Martin says Bill O’Reilly clearly exaggerated and inflated his “combat” and “war” experience

Media critic and war/military/intelligence expert Andy Martin says that Bill O’Reilly clearly inflated his “combat” or “war” credentials by claiming a civil disturbance in Buenos Aires was a combat or war situation. Andy wades into the O’Reilly/Mother Jones/CBS News/New York Times and Washington Post “conflation” over what Bill O’Reilly did in Argentina over thirty years ago. “Bill O’Reilly has shot himself in the foot,” Andy says. “Instead of ignoring Mother Jones, O’Reilly has opened up floodgates concerning how he has misrepresented his experiences during and after the Falklands Islands War.

Andy Martin says Bill O’Reilly clearly inflated and distorted and misrepresented O’Reilly’s “war” and “combat” credentials

Andy says that O’Reilly has opened up a mess that is of his own making, and O’Reilly is certain to be a loser when the exchange is over

(New York, NY) (February 23, 2015) Let me start with a disclaimer or series of disclaimers. I do not like Fox News. Fox News has treated me abysmally. I have every reason to dislike the place. I do like Bill O’Reilly’s show, watch it regularly and I think he does an excellent job of focusing on threats to our national security. So I bear Bill no personal animus or hostility.

But O’Reilly is clearly wrong in claiming he “covered a war” and saw “combat” in Argentina over thirty years ago.

If O’Reilly had come to me for advice on how to handle Mother Jones, I would have proffered an aphorism from my late Uncle Bill Vasiliou, who schooled me on how to deal with such nonsense. But O’Reilly, pugilist that he is, has now waded into a battle with CBS News, the New York Times, the Washington Post and only incidentally Mother Jones.

One more disclaimer: Bill O’Reilly’s misconduct is not even remotely related to or on a par with Brian Williams’ misconduct at NBC News.

When attacked, O’Reilly doubled down on his ridiculous claim that he was in combat, and is now dealing with a conflagration of his own making. O’Reilly is trying to bluster his way over the voices of his critics but he is doomed to failure. The match is no longer between Fox News and Mother Jones. CBS, the Times and Post level the playing field in this street fight.

First, in a generic sense O’Reilly was sent to Argentina to “cover a war.” The only problem was that you could not get to the war one from Argentina. Urban demonstrations such as O’Reilly claims to have covered are neither “combat” nor “war” as revived research concerning the aftermath of Argentina’s defeat is now confirming (see below).

O’Reilly’s ridiculous claim that he obtained the “greatest war film ever” is insulting to anyone’s intelligence who has any knowledge of real combat coverage and footage. I was in Viet-Nam, Cambodia, Laos, Iraq and other war zones. And I was actually out in the field in actual combat zones (pictures at AndyMartin.com). But I would never have considered a street demonstration in DaNang or Saigon a “combat” situation (at least not until the Tet Offensive or the final days when Saigon collapsed and fell to the North).

Is what O’Reilly is guilty of the same level of lying as Brian Williams? Absolutely not. Brian Williams lied to his audience this month. O’Reilly has inflated something which took place decades ago at CBS, long before he was hired by Fox News. So O’Reilly’s claim that the attack on him is a tit-for-tat for Williams is, if true, complete nonsense. O’Reilly was and is clear on that front.

But, as often happens, O’Reilly’s latest exaggerations and misrepresentations in defending himself against Mother Jones may have reopened the statute of limitations over a dispute concerning what happened 33 years ago. On that basis he may suffer some ignominy similar to Williams’. If O’Reilly had kept his mouth shut, that would have been the end of the flare up. By reclaiming and reviving his goofy exaggerations and self-inflated views of combat and war in Argentina over thirty years ago, O’Reilly may now be doing unnecessary, but now unavoidable, damage to his brand.

Next time, Bill, call me before you want to inflate your resume. My own Uncle Bill has the answer.

Honolulu - Andy Martin opens his fifth annual meeting on Obama with “Obama's children,” the Tsarnaev Brothers

In a provocative column/letter, New Hampshire author and Republican leader Andy Martin says that President Obama’s attempt to blame “self-radicalization” for the Boston Bombings is a ruse to deflect attention and responsibility from Obama himself. Andy says that for the past four years Obama has been abroad running down the United States and trying to create the impression America is “in decline.” Andy says that after a four-year germination period, young Muslims are becoming increasingly radicalized by Obama’s poisonous ideology. Andy calls the Tsarnaev Brothers “Obama’s children,” the bitter fruit of Obama’s Cairo speech, Obama’s genuflecting to Arab kings, and Obama’s refusal to “stand tall” for America. Andy also blames Republican Party incompetence for the rise of Obama.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Hampshire author Andy Martin says the Boston Bombers - the Tsarnaev Brothers - are “Obama’s children”

Andy says President Obama’s “America-is-in-decline” approach to world affairs is the true source of Muslim radicalization

There is no “self-radicalization,” Andy says; Obama himself is the source of Muslim radicalization

(NEW YORK) (May 5, 2013)

Dear Reader:

On April 21st, the New York Times’ respected liberal columnist Thomas L. Friedman referred to President Obama’s “Muslim grandfather.” (Please see Link #1 below). Seven days later, Friedman again referred to “Obama’s “Muslim grandfather.” (Link #1)

It is almost unimaginable today, but nine years ago when I first raised the issue of then-Senatorial candidate Barack Obama’s religion I was attacked by the media for telling the truth. The same New York Times that today allows Friedman to link “Obama’s grandfather” to Islam, in 2008 sought to demonize me by publishing a front-page story making all sorts of false accusations (please see Link #2).

So what’s happened? What’s changed since 2004? Well, Friedman, who has lived in the Islamic world, knows the truth. Islam descends through the father, not the mother. For Friedman to repeatedly state that Obama has a “Muslim grandfather,” while politely overlooking Obama’s putative Muslim father, is to point directly at President Obama’s Muslim roots as a source of our problems in the Muslim world. Friedman may be suggesting, inferentially, that Obama’s heritage is more of an influence and more of a problem than Friedman originally anticipated.

People can change their religion; President Obama says he has done so. But people can’t change their culture and values. Obama says he hasn’t. Obama told New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof that Obama had a total recall of the Muslim muezzin call to prayer (see link #3).

Obama may claim to have left behind his Muslim roots. But young Muslims such as the Tsarnaev Brothers reject Obama’s “conversion” to Christianity. The Tsarnaevs see our president as a Muslim who has never publicly rejected his family’s faith. Thomas Friedman’s continuing concern with Obama’s family religion is testimony to the fact others agree with me.

Obama’s 2009 Cairo speech and Obama’s constant overtures to radical Muslim nations may be the real reason the Boston Bombers “self-radicalized.” The Tsarnaev brothers may be “Obama’s children.”

I am not for a moment suggesting President Obama intentionally or directly encouraged the bombings. But, indirectly, Obama’s complacent and compliant attitude toward radical Islam has created the conditions and circumstances where young Islamists are not “self-radicalizing” but rather radicalizing directly in response to Obama's stimulus.

After all, why are only Muslims “self-radicalizing?” Lots of people have grievances, all over the world. They are not committing terrorist acts.

When I began to study Barack Obama in depth in 2004 I was alone. The media were spoon-fed Obama’s propaganda.

When I landed in Honolulu five (5) years ago, I was the first scholar to conduct independent research into Obama’s past.

Although I am credited with creating what the media sought to call the “Birther” movement, I had and have nothing to do with some of the thieves and crackpots that have sought to profit from false claims about Obama’s birth. I have found no evidence that Obama was born anywhere but Honolulu. Even the New York Times was forced to admit I clearly differentiate between fact and theory (see Link #2).

In fact, the reason Obama’s henchmen have attacked me so relentlessly over the years is precisely because I only seek to find the facts and to search for the truth.

You can see the short film I produced at www.boycotthawaii.com which prompted other researchers to produce their own films. In other words, over the past nine years I have been and continue to be a catalyst for research and investigation into Obama’s origins.

For the past five years I have convened an annual conference in Washington, DC to discuss my research into Obama, and to present my theories about where we are headed in the future (www.nationalconferenceonobama.blogspot.com).

This year we are combining the national conference with sponsorship by Contrarian Commentary, and we are holding our meetings in Honolulu beginning May 8th. This is your opportunity and invitation to attend the conference, to financially support the continuing investigation, and to help us spread and share the ongoing research. We kept a lid on the conference with this late announcement because we have some explosive leads that we are pursuing in Honolulu.

When we began planning the 2013 meeting a couple of people said to me, “Why bother, the election is over?” First, the “election is not over.” Obama will be in power for three more years. Need I say more?

Second, many of the seeds Obama planted in his first term took time to germinate. “Self-radicalization” is one of them. Obama’s unwillingness to stand up for America, and his refusal to defend our values against competing “values” from the less civilized world, have now created a cotillion of continuing terrorism.

Many liberals were offended when conservatives attacked Obama for not defending American “values,” and for appointing an Attorney General who refuses to even mouth the term “Islamic terrorism.”

Anyone who has ever been an avid gardener, as I am, knows plants can take years to grow to maturity, and some plants are just slow starters. I have a plant that went in the ground five years ago; many times I thought he had died, but he is sprouting this year. Likewise, political doctrines do not create an instant response. That is why the Tsarnaev Brothers may be “Obama’s children.” It took time for their violent anti-American attitudes to explode into the reality of the Boston bombings.

Since Obama started planting his seeds in 2009 he has mismanaged (sabotaged?) the federal bureaucracy so as to limit counterterrorism activity. Today, Obama's so-called “self-radicalized” seeds are bearing bitter fruit. Obama planted a lot of seeds in the past four years. The Tsarnaev Brothers are not alone.

If ordinary Americans are not prepared to break through the relentless propaganda of the Obama Administration (Benghazi: “what difference does it make?; Benghazi: “that was along time ago”) then we can expect more anti-American activity from Obama’s children.

It is Obama himself who has radicalized the Muslim world. He has created and presented a portrait of America as being in decline, a helpless and hapless nation. Obama’s actions are “radicalizing” Islamic extremists. There is no such thing as “self-radicalizing.” College students respond to incitement from their environment and from their national leaders. That is why I have labeled the Tsarnaev Brothers “Obama’s children.” There are many more “Obama children” out there.

Please be sure to pass these comments along to your family and friends. Right now I am perhaps the only source labeling Obama’s bogus “self-radicalization” claims what they are: the fruits of Obama’s surrender to the Muslim world over the past four years.

It took Tom Friedman five years to catch up with the reality that Obama was raised in a Muslim family. What are the media ignoring today that they will only admit five years from now when it is too late? At ContrarianCommentary we like to say we “see over the horizon.” Our work in 2004 looks pretty good in retrospect. That’s the best reason to support our continuing efforts.

Won’t you join us in Honolulu for a scintillating and controversial conference, or support our work with a contribution if you can’t attend in person?

Respectfully,

Andy Martin

P.S. While my research into Obama is independent and scholarly, I do not hide my own Republican views. The Republican Party’s internal incompetence, in Illinois in 2004, and nationally in 2008 and 2012, has done a great deal to facilitating Obama’s rise to power. While I try to keep scholarly research and investigation separate from partisan politics, there is no denying that Republican Party failures to confront Obama and to understand the threat he poses to the United States have allowed him to endanger our national security. At a time when Christians in the military are threatened with prosecution for “proselytizing,” President Obama has been very subtly proselytizing the Muslim world to rise up against America. Facts are facts. The truth is the truth. The Tsarnaev Brothers are the fruits of Obama’s efforts.

Mitt Romney Memo #1: Andy Martin explains how Mitt Romney bungled his response to Obama’s lie that “Romney wants to bankrupt the auto industry”

Romney’s Rangers, The Independent Mitt Romney Political Action Team led by Republican activist Andy Martin, is beginning a series of “Debate Prep” memos for Governor Mitt Romney. In “Mitt Memo #1” Andy exposes Barack Obama’s lies about Romney’s 2008 proposal to rescue the auto industry. Andy explains what Romney actually said in 2008. Andy critiques Romney’s response to relentless accusations that Romney wanted to “bankrupt the auto industry” in 2008, perhaps the wildest and most bogus attack that Barack Obama has hurled at Romney. Andy explains to Romney what Romney actually said, and compares what Romney actually said with what Obama actually did. More memos will follow. Andy exposes Obama’s “Romney wanted to destroy the auto industry” “Big Lie” with the facts, since Romney himself has never made an effective response to Obama’s fraudulent accusations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Romney’s Rangers, led by Republican Party activist and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin, begins a new series of “Debate Prep” memos for Governor Mitt Romney

Andy was and is a strong supporter of Governor Mitt Romney

Andy says Romney has never effectively answered Barack Obama’s bogus accusation that Romney wanted to “bankrupt” the auto industry in 2008

As usual, Andy is completely tethered to the facts, which the media have studiously ignored while endlessly repeating Obama’s “Big Lie” about Romney’s 2008 proposals

Andy Martin begins his new series of “insider memos” for Mitt Romney, since Romney’s own staff has failed to adequately advise the governor

In effect, Andy has become Mitt Romney’s own “management consultant”

(Manchester, NH) (October 16, 2012) Republican Party activist Andy Martin announced today that he is producing a new series of “Mitt Memos,” in which he guides the candidate on how to deal with problems in Romney’s campaign.

Mitt Memo #1: Romney never proposed “bankrupting” the auto industry

1. The background to Barack Obama’s false accusation

A. In 2005 I published a column proposing that General Motors file for bankruptcy (the column is not independently online but you can read it at the bottom of footnote/link [2] below. My column created a stir in the auto industry and received considerable attention for its dramatic conclusions and proposal, see link/footnote [3] below. What made my observations particularly trenchant is that I consider myself a friend of the UAW (United Auto Workers), not an enemy, and it was a painful analysis to present to GM workers.

B. In 2008, during the fall financial crisis, Mitt Romney published an op-ed column on the auto industry, see footnote/link [1] below. The New York Times, not Romney, gave the article the misleading headline “Let Detroit go bankrupt.” Romney’s column may be the least read and most misconstrued op-ed remarks in history. Barack Obama uses the column to suggest that Romney is anti-auto and wanted to “bankrupt” the industry. Nothing could be further from the facts, all of which are contained within Romney’s own column. (Read the full column and judge for yourself whether my characterization is a fair one.) Ironically, Romney proposed in 2008 the exact approach which I had recommended in 2005!

C. What Romney said was the following:

“The American auto industry is vital to our national interest as an employer and as a hub for manufacturing. A managed bankruptcy may be the only path to the fundamental restructuring the industry needs…The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk.”

Romney also said:

“I believe the federal government should invest substantially more in basic research…The federal government should also rectify the imbedded tax penalties that favor foreign car makers.”

Do any of Romney’s remarks sound “anti-auto?” Thank you. Then why has Romney allowed Obama to lie and lie and lie about Romney’s proposal to rescue the auto industry in 2008?

D. So what is a “managed bankruptcy?” There are two types of bankruptcy proceedings. In Chapter 7, failed firms are liquidated and their assets are sold off. The business ends. In Chapter 11, firms are reorganized under court supervision, labor contracts are usually modified, excess assets are sold and the business is placed on a sound financial footing. Over the years, skillful lawyers created “managed bankruptcy” proceedings, where the financial deals were cut before the bankruptcy case was actually filed, and the creditors knew what was going to happen and what they were going to get in advance. Managed bankruptcies are used to avoid the uncertainty and delay that can sometimes take place in an unstructured proceeding.

E. What President Obama did in early 2009 is to exactly and precisely follow Mitt Romney’s suggestions, and arrange managed bankruptcies for GM and Chrysler, with one major exception. Instead of protecting creditors and auto workers as a whole, Obama only protected UAW workers. GM auto workers that were not UAW members were thrown on the street. Workers from other industries who had invested their pension money in the auto industry saw their pension assets diminished so that the UAW could receive special compensation and indemnity. In other words, Obama rewarded his friends, and stole from people who didn’t know the president was raiding their pocketbooks.

2. The problem Romney faces

Governor, you have badly bungled Barack Obama’ accusation that you wanted to “bankrupt” and destroy the auto industry. Perhaps more than any issue Obama’s auto industry accusation accounts for your inability to take a strong lead in the race against the president. Obama’s accusation that you were anti-auto and wanted to bankrupt and destroy the auto industry is perhaps one of the biggest lies, if not the biggest lie, in the history of American politics. And yet you have let Obama and his stooges get away with their nonsense, and allowed the lie to be propagated over and over again by the media.

3. My proposed answer for Romney at the debate

Thank you for your question. In 2009, President Obama did exactly what I proposed to rescue the auto industry in my column in 2008. Since then, President Obama and his supporters have lied (“misrepresented?”) my 2008 proposal to rescue the auto industry, and have lied about what I proposed and what they did, because my 2008 proposal precisely tracked what the president did in 2009.

I proposed “managed bankruptcies” for GM and Chrysler. What did Obama do? He arranged managed bankruptcies for GM and Chrysler. Obama’s attempt to suggest I wanted to destroy or dismantle the auto industry is a Big Lie, perhaps the Biggest Lie ever in American politics. The “managed bankruptcy” which I proposed is exactly what the president did. The financial agreements were worked out in advance of filing the proceedings in the bankruptcy court, and both GM and Chrysler were saved exactly as I had outlined. I wish Barack Obama would start telling the truth abut what I proposed and what he did, and stop lying about me and stop lying about what I proposed in 2008. Obama’s claim that I was “anti-auto” is a disgrace to him personally and to his supporters that constantly repeat the big lie. You can read my column and see for yourself how Obama has distorted the truth. Only a desperate candidate lies about his opponent. What does that say about the president? How can you trust someone who distorts the truth and the facts the way the president has?

4. Closing observations by Andy

Romney can prepare his response to make it slightly softer, but the facts are the facts. Both the liberal media and Obama and his stooges have blatantly lied about Mitt Romney’s 2008 proposal to rescue the auto industry. They have used a misleading headline which Romney did not write, and ignored what Romney actually did write. Romney has allowed himself to be a punching bag for Obama’s lies. When is Romany going to call out the president and expose Obama’s lies? Maybe tonight.

Mitt Romney is a decent man who made the same auto industry proposal in 2008 that I had made in 2005. Romney has been vilified by the media, none of whom have read his original remarks. The media have failed to expose Obama’s lies and distortions. What does that tell you about the media?

Tuesday night, take off the gloves Mitt. Memo # 2 will soon follow. And then #3.
