(WHEATON, IL)(November 1, 2010) Illinois political corruption fighter Andy Martin will hold a Monday evening news conference in Wheaton, Illinois to urge conservative DuPage County Republicans to reject Mark Kirk for the U. S. Senate.
“Mark Kirk lied about his military credentials,” Martin says. “He didn’t lie once. He didn’t lie by inadvertence. He lied over and over again, year after year. He created a false persona, complete with bogus pictures of himself in combat garb. The military fraud scheme was sophisticated: it fooled all of Chicago’s print and broadcast media. Kirk came back from a short visit as a congressman to Afghanistan in January with dramatic stories of being under Taliban fire. It was all a lie.
“Kirk claims he has ‘taken ownership’ of his lies, and claimed that as a ‘Navy officer’ he is responsible for his lies. What military organization would promote a habitual, pathological liar to a position of responsibility? When Admiral Jeremy Boorda was found to have exaggerated his military career, Boorda committed suicide because he knew he had dishonored the Navy. No one is suggesting Kirk should commit suicide. But for him to claim any legitimacy as a leader of the Republican Party is a joke. Kirk knows nothing about honor; he has none.
“Kirk lied about commanding the War Room. Kirk never did. The only think Kirk ever did in the War Room was to violate federal law by sending out campaign notes from a federal building.
“Kirk was ordered by the Pentagon to stop using Navy property in his political campaigns—and launched the only ‘attack’ of his military career. Kirk attacked the U. S. Navy for putting an end to his misuse of federal property. Last month, Kirk was back using phony props in campaign ads to suggest he is a combat veteran.
“What was interesting about comments on the editorial pages of the Springfield and Rockford newspapers was that the editors felt they ‘didn’t know’ who Kirk was. For real. No one does.
“Kirk’s wife, who was a military officer, didn’t know him either. He fooled her too. Kirk lied about his marriage vows. Why would anyone vote for a middle-aged man that no one knows?
“Kirk told Chuck Sweeny of the Rockford register that Kirk had fought ‘in two wars.’ Kirk never ‘fought’ in any war. Kirk lied about coming under fire in Iraq. (Full disclosure: Kirk had the nerve to say he was ‘fighting for Andy Martin’ when Kirk went on a junket to Afghanistan.)
“In 2003 Kirk said he had seen ‘evidence’ of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. There was no such evidence, and there were no such weapons. Kirk’s lies cost thousands of American men and women their lives. (Kirk claims to be an ‘intelligence officer.’)
“After being a close confident of George Bush, last week Kirk turned on Bush and called Bush a ‘liar.’ Was Kirk lying when he praised Bush? Who knows what confused thoughts run through Kirk’s disturbed mind?
“And yet Republicans nationally tell us they have ‘learned from the mistakes of the past’ and they are now ‘new Republicans’ this time, who are committed to ethics. If Mark Kirk is elected to the senate that will be the death knell of the ‘new Republican Party.’ Kirk is a disgrace to Illinois, a disgrace to the Republican Party and a disgrace to the U. S. Navy.
“Why would ‘conservative’ DuPage County Republican leaders ask rank-and-file voters to support Kirk? There is something wrong with the party when we urge voters to cast ballots for a pathological liar and a military fraud.
“Kirk also lied about his ‘teaching career,’ and he has lied about just about everything else in his life. Kirk voted against repeal of ‘Don’t ask, Don’t Tell,’ and then had his former wife come out and say he promised her he would vote the other way after November 2nd. Like John Kerry, Kirk was ‘for’ cap and trade before he was ‘against’ it.
“Barack Obama was a pathological liar, and no one listened when I explained why. Now Obama has devastated the Democratic Party as well as our economy. DuPage County Republicans must reject Kirk to save the Republican Party and to save the honor of our genuine military heroes who are serving in uniform,” Martin will state outside a DuPage rally for Kirk at Wheaton Bowl.
“I am a Republican loyalist,” Martin says. “Kirk has brazenly betrayed the Republican Party. He did so in the past; he will do so in the future. Why reward betrayal? Beats me.”

“Mark Kirk lied about his military credentials,” Martin says. “He didn’t lie once. He didn’t lie by inadvertence. He lied over and over again, year after year.
